New World is the Steam top seller but Battlefield 2042 is catching up

New World has once again managed to be the top selling game on Steam but the upcoming Battlefield 2042 is hot on its heels snapping up several places in the top ten list.

This is according to the unofficial Steam tracker Steam Database (SteamDB) which provides a recap for the best sellers on the platform according to revenue for the week.

New World is top dog in first place and also manages to get a spot in the middle in sixth place. Battlefield 2042, on the other hand, gets second, third and fourth, with Battlefield V also slotting in near the end in ninth place.

The reason one game can appear more than once in the list is because of the fact that Steam lists multiple versions of a game separately. Both New World and Battlefield 2042 have serval purchasing options with the latter especially difficult to navigate.

Seeing both games performing so well is no surprise. New World has been topping charts when it comes to player numbers and Battlefield 2042 just had its beta last week which generated a lot of pre-orders ahead of its 19th November release.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Battlefield 2042 continues strong pre-sales all the way until it’s out.

  1. New World
  2. Battlefield 2042
  3. Battlefield 2042
  4. Battlefield 2042
  5. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
  6. New World
  7. CS:GO – Operation Riptide
  8. FIFA 22
  9. Battlefield V
  10. Back 4 Blood

Nickelodeon All-Star Braw is a newcomer to the top selling list. This attempt at a Smash Bros. clone was received rather well and give PC players a solid contender in this genre of gaming.

FIFA 22 and Operation Riptide have already proved popular so the inclusion of the two on the list is to be expected. What isn’t expected is Valve’s Index VR headset which we usually see on this list every week.

Finally Back 4 Blood is in tenth place. Like Battlefield 2042 this game also had a beta that got people excited and pre-ordering, but it’s a surprise to see it here considering the fact that it will be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch. That launch is actually tomorrow, 12th October, so we will need to wait for next week to see what the sales numbers look like.
