The Xiaomi 11T Pro might be most affordable flagship to land in SA to date

This evening (yes, a Sunday) the Xiaomi 11T Pro was officially launched in South Africa.

The new flagship-level phone is the latest device to be made available locally by the Chinese company, which has had a rejuvenation of sorts in 2021.

Where the other big recent launch, the Redmi Note 10 series, served up a great selection of devices in the mid-range space, the Xiaomi 11T Pro does the same for the flagship landscape.

In terms of specifications, the 11T Pro is not lacking any department. To that end a 6.67″ AMOLED display is present and yields a 2400×1080 resolution (FHD+) with 120Hz AdaptiveSync and HDR10+ support.

Shifting from visuals to the camera setup, on the rear is a trio of lenses. There is a large 108MP wide-angle primary option, which is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP telephoto lenses. As for the front facing one, it’s a 16MP selfie camera.

Looking at what Xiaomi has chosen on the inside, the heavy lifting is being handled by an octa-core 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset that supports 5G connectivity. There’s dual SIM support too and the memory orientation features 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Last worth highlighting is a mammoth 5 000mAh battery that boats Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge technology, capable of taking the device from zero to 100 percent capacity in only 17 minutes.

How much will all of this cost you?

The recommended retail price is an impressive R13 999 and on paper the 11T Pro could soon become the smart choice for savvy Android fans in SA. We have not gotten hands on yet or received a unit for review, but the early indications are that this phone will win plenty of people over.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro will be available in Meteorite Gray or Celestial Blue colourways from Vodacom, Takealot, TFG stores and other official Xiaomi retailers.
