You can now add voice prompts to your Hinge dating profile

Have you ever wondered what a potential match on a dating app sounds like? Well Hinge is trying to end that mystery by adding voice prompts to user profiles.

As you might be aware, rather than penning an exhaustive bio, Hinge asks users to answer a set of questions, or prompts, so that other users can get to know them a bit better.

The app has now launched a new type of prompt, Voice Prompts.

“Voice Prompts allows users to answer a Prompt through a 30-second voice recording, giving others a glimpse of their personality and what a first date would be like. The new audio experience is now available to all users globally,” Hinge wrote in a press release.

Why is this now a feature? Well Hinge says that a study it conducted found that 75 percent of users say that assessing the chemistry of somebody is one of the hardest parts of modern dating. In that regard, 65 percent of singles on Hinge say they believe that hearing someone’s voice would help them “determine interest in a match”.

Given that this study was conducted by Hinge we’re hesitant to call it conclusive or accurate but what harm could including a voice message in your profile have?

To add a Voice prompt head to Settings, tap Edit Profile and the Select a prompt option in the new Voice Prompt section. Tap the microphone button and press play to listen to your prompt before it goes live.

Voice prompts will appear below the first picture on your profile.
