Marvel’s Midnight Suns won’t rise until 2022’s second half

As 2021 winds down another delay has been announced, this time for Marvel’s Midnight Suns which will now launch in the second half of 2022.

The turn-based tactical game from Xcom devs Firaxis was scheduled for released in March 2022.

Jake Solomon, creative director on the game and Garth DeAngelis, senior franchise producer, released a statement about the delay.

“We decided to share that we’ve made the very tough decision to move our launch window to the second half of 2022. We know many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not come lightly. We decided to push our launch because we need more time to make this the best game possible,” the statement reads.

“We believe in our creative vision for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and want to do justice in delivering an unforgettable adventure set in the supernatural side of Marvel. These extra months will be used to add more story, cinematics and overall polish and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality.”

Unlike many other delays the pandemic is not cited as a reason for the date change. Games like Dying light 2 and Total War: Warhammer 3 have also been delayed recently making 2022 an extremely packed year for big games that would have come out earlier.

As always delays are preferred to a worse game launching early so it’s back to waiting. All that remains to be seen is just how long that wait will be, as “the second half of 2022” is quite a big timeframe.

While we wait for Midnight Suns you can listen to the Metallica cover that was used in its announcement trailer, as well as the full Metallica Blacklist album that it was part of.
