Destiny 2’s Moments of Triumph and Bungies 30th Anniversary rolled into one event

Since it was announced earlier this year that the next installment of Destiny 2, The Witch Queen, would be delayed into 2022, there has been a sizeable gap in the Destiny 2 content calendar.

As it turns out, players weren’t expected to sip Season of the Lost until February 2022 as next week Destiny’s annual Moments of Triumph event kicks off alongside Bungie’s 30th Anniversary event.

Starting with Moments of Triumph, there will be a new Bungie Rewards that can be unlocked and purchased, a new MMXXII seal to earn and of course a new title. The Moments of Triumph shirt will also be available to players who unlock the necessary in-game achievements. To be clear anything unlocked via Bungie Rewards still needs to be paid for.

There will also be in-game items to earn during the festivities. We also suspect that Eververse will be loaded up with new items (Bungie mentioned a new ornament for Le Monarque in its weekly update) so save your Bright Dust and Silver or complete Season of the Lost challenges and vendor bounties to earn extra Bright Dust.

30th Anniversary celebration

This year marks 30 years of making games for Bungie and it’s hosting a special event that extends through to February 2022.

As part of the event there will be a new six-player matchmade activity in Dares of Eternity that will be free to all players. In addition a new Dungeon in Grasp of Avarice arrives next week but access to this Dungeon requires the Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack.

Just this week Bungie revealed some new screenshots from the event and you can check these out in the gallery below.

Of course the highlight of the event is the return of the mighty Gjallarhorn. This Exotic rocket launcher has been a pox upon Destiny in the past but Bungie says it’s been pulled into line while still retaining it’s unique flavour.

Both Moments of Triumph and the 30th Anniversary event kick off on 7th December. Bungie has also detailed a number of weapon and ability updates that will be coming to Destiny 2 next week.

We highly recommend you familiarise yourself with the ability changes here as they appear to mix things up substantially.

Players will likely also have The Dawning event to look forward to closer to Christmas but Bungie has been rather quiet about that event. With that having been said, even with two events on the go, we really would enjoy some festive cheer as we shoot monsters in the face.
