Need help with your school funding? NSFAS is touring the country

While it’s highly recommended that students apply for National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funding online, there will be opportunities to get some help in the process in-person.

This as NSFAS is visiting select locations in South Africa. We’ve been following the organisation closely over the years and these in-person events happen sporadically, but seem to be more frequent as we get towards the end of the year and a new academic year is on the horizon.

Today, for example, NSFAS visited a high school in Cape Town, but will be doing two more visits in other locations later this week.

The announcement of these visits seem to be made on Twitter a day or two in advance so there isn’t much time to prepare for a visit or depend on one if you’re currently struggling with an application or other problem.

What we can recommend is following the official Twitter account for NSFAS for announcements or, if you’re in high school right now, speak to your teachers and governing body about maybe contacting NSFAS for a visit.

These in-person events seem to all be done at school so it would make sense that NSFAS communicates with them before arriving. As these are billed as “outreach application drives” it seems to indicate that NSFAS is trying to convince more students to apply for funding, so it would benefit them if a school would ask them to come (in theory, anyway).

Those who are experiencing any issues and would still like to keep the process online, we can also recommend the FAQ section of the NSFAS website which answers most questions about everything to do with student funding.
