In this week’s africast we discuss an announcement that not only dominated gaming, but business too – Microsoft’s plan to acquire Activision Blizzard.
Before that, however, we touch on two topics – Galaxy Unpacked and God of War PC.
The former sees Samsung confirm that its first smartphone-focused event will be happening in February, although a precise data and time have not been mentioned. Added to this are hints that we could see Galaxy Note features port over to a new Galaxy S device.
Next Brendyn Lotz has been tucking into God of War PC for Hypertext, reviewing the title and being mightily impressed in the process. We always knew God of War was an all-time great title when it released in 2018 and the PC port has proved quite solid and a must-play for those who have not yet.
Shifting to our bigger topic this africast, with the news that Microsoft wants to buy Activision Blizzard yielding mixed reactions. While it could prove a smart move for Microsoft as its aim to become the name in gaming take shape, we do wonder whether it is fully aware of the toxicity plaguing Activision Blizzard and if it indeed plans to address them.
Mentioned in this africast:
- First Galaxy Unpacked of 2022 set for February, with S and Note series potentially merging
- You should play God of War PC with a controller
- Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard, Kotick’s future unclear
- Bobby Kotick to remain on as CEO at least until Microsoft acquisition finalised
- Sony expects Microsoft to abide by contracts and keep Activision titles multiplatform
