Prepare your bladder: The Batman is another 3 hour movie

The trend of three hours movies continues today as it’s revealed that The Batman will run for two hours and 55 minutes.

This has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, a usually rock solid source when it comes to happenings in the movie industry.

It reports that “insiders at Warner Bros.” provided this information with the runtime also including eight minutes of credits.

Interestingly no mention is made by The Hollywood reporter right now in terms of an after-credits scenes which the MCU made so popular. With this new Batman outing meant to be a standalone outside of any existing franchises we’re not sure what an after-credits scene would even entail outside of a teaser for a sequel.

Maybe the Warner Bros. insider didn’t mention that this time around or The Batman will simply not have anything after the credits. We’ll need to wait for the movie to be released on 4th March.

What we do know now is that these tentpole movies are growing rather long. The last two movies we saw in theatres – Dune and Spider-Man: No Way Home – were both bladder-punishingly long.

Dune was two hours 35 minutes while No Way Home was two hours 28 minutes. Thankfully we saw those movies with a plus one who could fill us in for what we missed when we went to the bathroom.

Those two were arguably the most sought after movies from 2021 and The Batman has become the most anticipated movie of 2022 according to IMDB, so maybe these long runtimes are simply giving people more of what they want.

That being said even if you’re not downing a giant movie soda in your viewing it is hard to keep keep seated for that long. Then again if you’re seeing a movie in a theatre without a big popcorn and drink then you’re doing things wrong.
