Study Buddy Fund still looking for SA student applicants

2021 Matrics hoping to further their education in 2022 should look into a new opportunity to receive outside help with their studies through the Study Buddy Fund.

Organised by Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA), the Study Buddy Fund is aimed at helping dozens of students from various parts of the country.

“Five students will be selected from the following 14 communities, making it a total of seventy (70) Study Buddy Fund recipients. Host communities include: Tembisa, Freedom Park, Motsoaledi, Tswelopele, Elrichpark, Kensington, Korsten, (Ntuzuma, Inanda, Kwamashu), Alexandra, Duduza, Ratanda, Seshego, Grabouw & Eldorado,” a press release sent to us reads.

The fund will cover not only tuition but also accommodation for higher education. The latter is sometimes looked over by these kinds of programmes which can make a situation untenable for students, so it’s good to see that it’s covered here.

Outside of the financial part of the fund study tips, career advice and support groups will also be provided.

“We all know that the growth of any country is linked to its young people having access to good education and we appreciate that, the work of dealing with challenges in our education system cannot rest on government alone. As a business, we cannot ignore the state of education in South Africa, the extreme challenges the system has faced and how the Covid -19 pandemic has impacted it over the last two years and to recover, we need all hands on deck. Hence the establishment of our Study Buddy Fund to help aspiring students, to give them hope and help them realise their future aspirations,” writes Nozicelo Ngcobo, CCBSA Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability Director.

To apply to the Study Buddy Fund, applicants should send the following details to studybuddyfund[AT]ccbagroup[DOT]com: full name and surname, Matric supplementary / final results and a written motivation of not more than 300 words.

Applications are being taken until 31st January. Applicants will not need to wait long as those who are successful will hear back by 11th February.
