Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has a successful first weekend

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel launched last week on 19th January as the latest videogame adaptation for the popular TCG, and even without access to the revenue it has generated, it seems to be a big success, just going off of playercount and reviews.

This as the game has brought in hundreds of thousands of players on PC alone. According to the official numbers released by Valve, the peak player count for the game over the last 24 hours was 262 689, which is higher even than when it made news for its high concurrent numbers a couple of days ago.

Even now, in the early hours of Monday morning at the time of writing, 154 877 people are still playing.

To put those numbers into perspective here are the top 10 performances on Steam right now according to the number of players.

CURRENT PLAYERS PEAK TODAY GAME
540 005 992 455 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
357 807 787 609 Dota 2
296 612 604 711 PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS
154 877 262 689 Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel
149 292 265 202 Apex Legends
83 762 146 824 Grand Theft Auto V
73 715 113 031 NARAKA: BLADEPOINT
62 667 80 786 Team Fortress 2
61 687 80 580 Wallpaper Engine
59 416 60 755 MIR4

It’s not just raw numbers that are are indicator of success, but also reviews. Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has recently crossed the ten thousand mark for reviews with 10 899 left already.

75 percent of these reviews are positive leaving the game with a Mostly Positive review rating.

While impressive it should be remembered that this game is free to play so we’re unsure right now how much money it’s actually generating for owner Konami.

While we’ve been focusing on the Steam port of the game thanks to the informative review system and available player stats, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is actually available on most platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Mobile ports for Android and iOS are also planned for the future.

For those who prefer to outright buy older titles and just focus on playing against NPCs, previous Yu-Gi-Oh! games are on sale right now with Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution discounted by 60 percent.
