The operators of some of the world’s largest adult content websites including Pornhub are without a chief executive officer and chief operating officer this week.

As reported by Variety, the departure of CEO Feras Antoon and COO David Tassillo has been in the works since early 2022. However, their departure doesn’t look good. Just last week The New Yorker published a damning article revealing how bad MindGeek and Pornhub are at policing their content.

The website has a long pock-marked history of failing to address issues such as revenge porn and videos of minors circulating on the platform.

“Antoon and Tassillo leave MindGeek’s day-to-day operations after more than a decade in leadership positions with the company. With the company strategically positioned for long-term growth, MindGeek’s executive leadership team will run day-to-day operations on an interim basis, with a search underway for replacements,” a MindGeek representative told Variety.

Whoever takes over from Tassillo and especially Antoon has an unenviable tenure ahead of them. Despite MindGeek’s many efforts to reign in illicit content being distributed on its platform, it continues to be a home for content that shouldn’t be there.

The tome from The New Yorker paints a harrowing picture of women who discover themselves on the site – without knowing they were on it – and the slog to remove that content.

While it might be one of the largest purveyors of adult content online, MindGeek seriously needs to clean up its act and hopefully new leadership can do that.
