Despite the fact that often, internships aren’t paid, they can be incredibly valuable when getting hands on with a job for the first time.

This is especially true in jobs where the pressure is high from the off, such as development. One company giving recent graduates and IT workers some experience in the world of developing is +OneX through its Work Experience Program.

This program pairs interns with a mentor to work on +OneX’s projects. This, the firm says, helps to build their technical experience in a real world setting.

“We believe there are two factors that make our program unique. The first is that the developers we take on are integrated into our culture of leading without titles, where they work with a buddy to grow in the company. They have someone to guide their journey, which may culminate in the offer of a permanent position and the chance to grow with +OneX. The second is our heavy focus on helping them develop soft skills they need to thrive,” explains software development executive at +OneX, Morgan Goddard.

Interns who are selected to participate are paid and +OneX is hoping to add 10 more interns to its program. The program has already welcomed five interns across +OneX’s software, data and cloud divisions.

The 10 interns that are yet to be selected will working in engineering, design, user experience, user interface, project management and data science roles.

“The +OneX Work Experience Program has taught me how to handle pressure and manage my time to deliver on challenging projects and deadlines. I love working here because the company really lives up to its ‘people are our oxygen’ ethos. We are given great mental health resources and work closely with a mentor that offers support and guidance,” said one participant in the +OneX Work Experience Program.
